The effect of fluent reading strategies on sixth grade students' reading aloud status

Reading is an integral part of modern life. It is one of the easiest ways to obtain information. For this reason, people who can read well can access information more easily. However, not all people can read at the same speed and accurately. Reading quickly and accurately is very important, especially for students. Reading processes are very effective both in their education life and in the exams they take. For this reason, this study was conducted considering that secondary school students could be more successful by reading faster and more accurately. This study aimed to examine the effects of fluent reading strategies on sixth grade students' oral reading situations. Fast and accurate reading situations were examined with the students using fluent reading strategies. Paired reading, reading with a friend, choral reading, echoic reading and guided reading techniques were used in the study. The study was carried out in a secondary school located within the borders of Konyaaltı district of Antalya province. This study is a quasi-experimental study. It was carried out using the "unequalized pretest-posttest control group design". The research consists of 50 students studying in the 6th grade of secondary school. 24 of the students were determined as the experimental group and 26 of them as the control group. To determine the students' reading fluency, a pre-test was administered before the research and a post-test was administered at the end of the study. To determine the reading fluency of the students participating in the study, (Rasinski, 2004, act. Baştuğ, 2012) were used. The application was completed in 10 weeks. Looking at the results of the research, it was determined that paired reading, reading with a friend, choir reading, resonant reading and guided reading techniques had a positive effect on students' fluent reading status. The research consists of five parts. First part; introduction, the second part is the information required within the scope of programming such as reading, reading types, oral reading errors, fluent reading, fluent reading simple programming under the title of theoretical framework, the third part; method, fourth part; fifth part of the lists; It consists of results and recommendations.
