Determination of cardiovascular risk profile of patients undergoing coronary angiography before renal transplantation between january 2016 - october 2018 in akdeniz university hospital and its relationship with the severity of coronary artery disease

Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the cardiovascular risk profile of patients undergoing coronary angiography prior to renal transplantation between January 2016 and October 2018 in Akdeniz University Hospital and to determine its relationship with the severity of coronary artery disease. Method: Data of 111 patients who underwent coronary angiography prior to renal transplantation between January 2016 and October 2018 at Akdeniz University Hospital were included in this study. The data of the patients were analyzed retrospectively. Gensini scoring system was used to evaluate the extent of the disease. Results: We identified a total of 111 patients (84 (75.7%) males, 27(24.3%) females). The mean age of the participants in the research group was 49.48±9.41. Fifty-three patients had coronary artery disease. The mean Gensini score was calculated as 42.98±24.41. There was a statistically significant weak and positive correlation between Gensini score and Parathormone (r=0,343; p=0,012), duration of hypertension (r=0,371; p=0,011), duration of chronic kidney disease (r=0,283; p=0,040) and HDL variables (r=0,273; p=0,048). The mean age of the group with CAD was higher than the other group (p<0.001). HDL levels were lower in CAD group than the other group (p=0.009). CRP value was higher in CAD group (p=0.005). Conclusion: The high prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors among the renal transplant population accounts for increased mortality. Determination of cardiovascular risk factors is important for survival of patients and grafts before and after transplantation.
