Abstract (EN)

In this study, Akdeniz University has been examined in terms of energy characteristics and energy production potential has been evaluated. The university central campus has the characteristics of a small district with an area of 3.400 hectares and a number of approximately 70.000 students. Campus and training hospital with a large part of the campus as well as in terms of energy consumption that is still in the active state for 24 hours. In the scope of the study, energy consumption of Akdeniz University was monitored for 3 years and energy distribution was examined daily, monthly and seasonally. The first step of the study is to determine the energy consumption characteristics of the university, to make measurements of energy consumption, to examine energy distribution systems, to determine peak loads, to determine load-time profiles and to determine the total energy demand. Then, the waste potential of the university and the nearby region was determined. In this section, the annual total amount of the hospital, central cafeteria wastes, animal wastes and animal wastes of the university and the available lawn sludges of the surrounding municipality are determined where the university campus is located. Necessary analyzes of these wastes were made by taking samples according to the distribution rates of these wastes and methane production potential, chemical and physical properties were determined by laboratory analysis. By this way, bio-methane production potential of the waste's mixture and in addition to this amount of producible energy have been demonstrated under laboratory conditions. According to the energy analyzes, the capacity of the planned biogas facility was calculated. The maximum energy level that can be produced in terms of electricity and heat energy was determined and the possibilities of this energy to meet the energy consumption of the university were evaluated. In accordance with the obtained results, all necessary infrastructure and feasibility studies have been carried out in order to design a biogas plant that can meet the majority of the energy consumption of the university by sizing it, performing technical, economic, environmental calculations and analysis of the plant and generating the energy of the university. In this study, solutions for the increasing electricity consumption cost and campus waste problems have been proposed for many years.
