Abstract (EN)

The main goal of this study is the evaluation of the progress and the prognosis of anesthesia management among emergency cesarean section patients. In a time interval from April 2011 to October 2011, 593 pregnant patients who admitted to our clinic for delivery were included in the study. One-hundred seventy five (29,5%) of the patients had normal vaginal birth, 193 (32,5%) of them underwent elective caesarean sectio and 225 (38%) of the patients underwent emergency caesarean sectio. Labour analgesia performed at 5,1% of the vaginal birth planned patients. Cesarean section rate was 70.5% and grade 1 cesarean section rate was 13%. In our clinic, regional anesthesia was preferred in 65% of the patients. The rate decreased to 25% among emergency caesarean sections. Spinal anesthesia was the most prefered regional anesthesia technique with a rate of 97%. Sedation requirement (51.1%), nausea (34.2%), hypotension (30.5%), and bradycardia (5.8%) were observed in the patients who underwent regional anesthesia. None of the patients had cardiac arrest or early neurological deficits. The incidence of intubation difficulty during general anesthesia for caesaren section was 0.7%. Apgar, postoperative mortality and morbidity were found to be associated with gestational age and grade of cesarean section. In selection of the anesthetic technique; cesarean classification, preference of the patient, obstetric requirements, and particularly the experience of the anesthesiologist are important.
