Abstract (EN)

When problems such as urbanization, globalization and climate changes emerged in the 21st century, the concept of "smart cities" started to emerge as a solution to these problems. One of this problem is transportation problem. Bicycle transportation, which is healthy, economical and environmentally friendly, is an effective solution to the problems that occur in urban transportation. So, the bicycle, which has the potential to replace motor vehicles for short distances, is suitable by contributing to the existing smart transportation concept if it is integrated with existing smart public transport system. In this research, general investigations were made on the latest situation of smart transportation system and bicycle as a transport use in urban transportation in the world and Turkey, then evaluations were made regarding the use of bicycles in urban transportation in Ankara, where the case study area is located. In Ankara, some studies have been carried out to make the use of bicycles as a transport in urban transportation and integrate the bicycle with the existing smart public transportation system. In the last activity carried out by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, 6 bicycle routes were proposed. On this issue, one of proposed area selected then a survey was conducted in that area. As a result of the survey study, it was concluded that if there are appropriate physical and administrative arrangements for the use of the Smart Bicycle System (SBS), the use of bicycles for both urban transportation and health / sports purposes will increase. Targets and strategies for integrating the "Eryaman 1-2" bicycle route with the existing urban smart public transport system have been specified and recommendations have been made.
