Abstract (EN)

Nowadays, especially in big cities, there are difficulties in meeting the demand for parking due to the rapidly increasing use of automobiles.. Various studies are carried out in order to determine the increase in the demand for parking and the effects of this demand on the urban traffic flow. One of the most effective methods to solve the problem is to use the existing parking capacity in the most efficient way. In recent years, intelligent transportation system applications have been used in order to use the parking capacity efficiently by providing facilities such as parking guidance, route negotiation, lot occupancy detection, reservation opportunity etc. for drivers. In this study, the transportation information system of İzmir which was brought into use by the local administration was introduced. Three different car parks were selected for the observations and data collection with the help of the information system. The chosen car parks were modelled with a simulation program and the validity of the model was shown. After the confirmation of the model validity, the effect of various parameters on perception and selection of car park were examined by a utility function. In the analyses, variations in average driving duration, walking distance, parking cost and carbon dioxide emissions were investigated as a result of proposed model in the intelligent parking system application. According to the results, up to 18% improvements were determined in driving time, walking distance and carbon dioxide emissions.
