Abstract (EN)

The relationships between smartphone addiction, motivational persistence and communication satisfaction have not been examined in the literature. Therefore, the current study examines the relationships between these variables. Participants of the cross-sectional designed study were students of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of a state university (n = 291). Participants completed the Turkish Version of the Smartphone Addiction Scale-Short Version, the Turkish Version of the Motivational Persistence Scale, and the Abbreviated Student Communication Satisfaction Scale. According to the correlation analysis results, smartphone addiction showed a negative relationship with motivational persistence and its dimensions. Student communication satisfaction was found to be positively correlated with motivational persistence and its two dimensions (long-term purposes pursuing and current purposes pursuing). According to the regression analysis results, smartphone addiction negatively determined motivational persistence and its dimensions. Additionally, student communication satisfaction positively predict motivational persistence and its two dimensions (long-term purposes pursuing and current purposes pursuing). These results showed that smartphone addiction may weaken motivational persistence, and communication satisfaction may increase motivational persistence.
