Determining the validity and reliability of vertical jump tests applied with smart phones

Abstract (EN)
The aim of this research was to determine the validity and reliability level of the measurements made through the applications on smart phones of the vertical jump skill. In total 79 individuals participated in this study. The study group of the research consisted of 42 (10 female, 32 male) athletes and 37 (21 female, 16 male) sedentary persons, aged between 18 and 25. Four different methods were used as data collection tools: respectively Jumpmeter, Smart/speed jump, Jumpster (phone) and Myjump (phone) tests. Each measurement was repeated twice and a 5-minute rest period was given between measurements. In the analysis of data; Descriptive statistical analyzes in the SPSS (Ver.15) analysis program were used. Since it was understood that the data were normally distributed as a result of Shapiro Wilk's test, parametric tests were preferred for comparison analyses. "Paired Sample t-Test" was used for in-group comparisons, and "Independent Sample t-Test" was used for intergroup comparisons. In addition, Pearson Correlation Analysis was performed to determine the correlation coefficients between the test results obtained from the groups. The error level "α" set as 0.05. When the obtained data were examined; According to the in-group comparison results of the vertical jump tests, there was no statistically significant difference between the 1st measurement and the 2nd measurement in any of the tests. While there was a statistically significant difference only between the Smart Jump test results between the 1st and 2nd measurements of the 4 measurement methods in women (p<0.05), there was no significant difference between the 1st and 2nd measurement results of the 4 measurement methods for men. When the in-group comparison results of the athlete and sedentary groups were examined, there was a statistically significant difference between the values obtained from the Smart Jump measurements of the sedentary group (p>0.05), but there was no significant difference between the 1st measurement and the 2nd measurement results in any of the other jumping tests. There was no statistically significant difference between the 1st measurement and 2nd measurement scores of female/male athletes and sedentary participants. According to the results of the correlation analysis, the positive and high correlation coefficients were found between the 4 vertical jump tests performed by the participants. In addition, it can be said that there are much higher correlations between Jumpster and Jumpmeter scores and also Smart Jump and Myjump scores compared to other test results, and therefore Jumpster scores are more similar to Jump meter scores, and Myjump scores are more similar to Smart Jump scores.
