Today, developments in technology and information systems present itself in the fields of traffic and transport as in every aspect of life. ITS is one of these technological developments.It is aimed to increase the capacity of existing road network, to reduce traffic accidents, to provide ecomonic profit by saving time spent on traffic, reducing air pollution and noise by ITS.In this study, ITS whose usage becomes widespread was examined; features and benefits of many different systems were discussed; usage of these systems in Turkey and in other countries was exemplified. Following this general assessment, it is focused on "traffic safety" concept and traffic accidents that is caused by "excessive speed"; the effect of excessive speed on the traffic accidents was investigated.In the field study, ?Radar System? that measures the speed and warns the driver, which is one of the LED signs that are in the context of the ITS was examined; in order to see the effect of radar system to traffic safety, number of fatal and injury accidents and number of dead and injured people were researched before and after the usage of system at various points around Antalya and Konya.
