Özet (EN)
Acne vulgaris is a frequent illness. It involves pilosebaceous unit and has a multifactorial etiology. Recent studies have revealed that insuline and insuline resistance have a role on the pathogenesis of acne. In the present study, it was examined the role of preptin and amylin which are directly associated with insuline secretion and released by pancreatic beta cells, on the pathogenesis of acne vulgaris. The study was composed of forty patients with acne vulgaris and body mass index-matched forty healthy controls. The participants were divided into four categories as, 14-20 aged patients(n=20), 21-30 aged patients (n=20), and 14-20 aged controls (n=20) and 21-30 aged controls (n=20). Serum preptin, amylin, fasting glucose, triglyceride, total cholesterol, LDL, VLDL, HDL, C-peptid, insüline and HbA1c levels of the participants were measured. HOMA-IR values were calculated. Serum preptin and amylin values of the patients were statistically significantly higher than those of healthy subjects (p>0.05). A positive correlation was determined between illness severity and amylin levels. The mean glucose level of the patients were also higher than that of healthy controls(p<0.001). Serum insuline, C-peptid and HOMA-IR index values were increased in the patient group compared to healthy subject although those differences did not reach a statistically significance (p>0.05).Within group comparisons of the patients with acne vulgaris, 14-20 aged group had higher serum preptin and amylin levels than those of 21-30 aged group, without any statistical significance (p>0.05). In addition, 14-20 yaş grubunda HOMA-IR index of 14-20 aged group was statistically significantly higher than that of 21-30 aged group (p=0.046). Consequently, we suggest that increased preptin and amylin may be associated with etiopathogenesis of acne vulgaris. As much preptin levels seem to be increased, we think that amylin may be more important in the etiopathogenesis of acne vulgaris because of the fact that there was a positive correlation between illness severity and amylin levels rather than preptin values. We consider that normalization of increased levels of the se two peptides may be useful in the treatment of acne vulgaris.
