Intoduction: Social media is to become the only tool that we make use of, having fun, chat education, education in knowledge, following the member agenda. It is separated from the media by means of the Internet. It is evaluated in terms of problematic use of the internet and social media and at least 8.5 to 21.5 evaluations per week. Intentional or unintentional exposure of people is limited to the use of social media. People can reach and communicate more easily with people who are experienced or not known, and can take it as a model by observing life and living conditions. They may be in the form of self in life, with the thought that people can benefit from the standards they aim for, or that they will never reach them. Aim: The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between Active Social Media Use and Depression and Self-Esteem. A foundation university will be taken as a sample in the research. In this context, it is aimed to obtain the relationship between social media use, depression and self-esteem and some sociodemographic variables. The population of the research consists of students at a foundation university in Istanbul. The sample of the research consists of 300 students studying at a foundation university in Istanbul. The research data collection process took place in 2021. Results: A highly significant positive correlation was found between depression and its sub-dimensions, depressive mood, self-blame, bodily image and feelings of guilt, and social media addiction, virtual tolerance, and virtual communication. A highly significant negative correlation was found between depression and its sub-dimensions, depressive mood, self-blame, bodily image, feelings of guilt, and self-esteem of the participants. As the depression levels of the participants increase, their self-esteem decreases.
