Özet (EN)

Solidification/Stabilization (S/S) is described as a process to form a homogeneous solid mass of waste (solid, liquid or sludge) employing additives by which the physical nature of the waste and transform chemically more stable of waste. S/S method is a land reclamation, waste recovery and disposal method which tested and used in abroad even though in Turkey. In experimental studies included in this thesis, it was applied cement based S/S method on an accumulator manufacturing facility industrial wastewater sludge including heavy metals such as lead (Pb), chromium (Cr) and cadmium (Cd). Temporal changes of solidified material's compressive strength and leachability have been investigated. In experimental studies, 0%, 5%, 10%, 25%, 50% and 75% waste-cement mixture ratios were tested. The solidified materials were subjected to compressive strength and leaching test at 1, 3, 7, 14, 28, 56 and 90 days. TS EN 12390-3 Turkish Standard was used as a compressive strength test and USEPA SW-846 Method 1311 TCLP was used as a leaching test. As a result of the experiments; the waste-cement mixture ratio of sample of solidified material is decreased, the compressive strength of the material is increased. Consequently also concrete class (C2,5-C5 and C7,5) is increased. Pb, Cr, and Cd in all samples of solidified materials which different waste-cement mixture ratio kept in different ratios. As a result; application of solidified material samples is suitable as a building material if it is supply calculated compressive strength. All samples of solidified material that %50 and below waste-cement mixture ratio can be land in non-hazardous waste disposal landfill (Class II) after 7 days.
