Özet (EN)

In recent studies, long P wave duration and increased P wave dispersion (PWD) have been shown an increasing at the risk of development of atrial fibrillation (AF) or paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) in patients with sinus rhythm. In this study, we aimed to determine that PWD values could rise up in acute ischemic stroke patients by comparing acute ischemic stroke patients group with control group. The 50 patients (n=50,29 men,21 women, age average =62) who were hospitalized in the neurology clinic with the diagnosis of acute ischemic stroke and control group( n=46, 29 men, 17 women, age average 58 ) were involved. The patients were evaluated by using the methods of cranial computed tomography and magnetic resonance. At 12 lead surface relaxation electrocardiogram, by calculating maximum and minimum P wave duration, the difference between them was defined as PWD. p<0,05 was used as statistically the least significant value among the groups. In our study, we determined that there was a significant increasing in the duration of PWD (77,20 ± 26,09 towards to msn 63,80 ± 21,42 msn, p<0,05 )when we compared the control group. According to the result of our study, an increasing of PWD was shown in the patients with acute ischemic stroke. Long P wave duration or PWD can be the reason of thromboembolism. Keywords: Stroke, atrial fibrillation and P wave dispersion
