Abstract (EN)

Aim: Acute coronary syndrome is one of the reasons of life-threatening emergency department admissions. In some patients diagnosis can be delayed, missed or resulted with death because of wide spectrume of acute coronary syndrome's clinical view. Diagnosis is made by combination of patient's history, electrocardiography, biomarkers and cardiac catheterization. Thromboelastography can be used to show hypercoagulable state. The aim of our study was to investigate the effectiveness of thromboelastography in diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome, in suspected patients with acute coronary syndrome. Material and Methods: The study was performed the dates between 01.0.2019 and 31.12.2019, in Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Training and Research Hospital. Patients with suspected acute coronary syndrome who are 18 years old and over, applied to our hospital were included in the study. Associated parameters were evaluated via thromboelastography. Data were evaluated via SAS 9.4 statistical analyses programs. Findings: In 65,3 (n=64)% of all patients were men. All patient with the mean age of 58 ± 15,8 years, the youngest patient was 19 and the oldest patient was 90 years old. In 66,3 (n=65)% of all patients were diagnosed with acute coronary syndrome. It has been found that the decreased each unit in reaction time was related to increase the likelihood of the diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome by 5%. Conclusions: In this study which is one of the few studies on the use of thromboelastography parameters in the early diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome, results were not compatible with other studies in the literatüre. Because of insufficient number of the patients in our study, more studiesare needed about effectiveness of thromboelastography in diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome.
