Özet (EN)

Acute pancreatitis is a severe condition with a high mortality rate characterised by inflammation of the pancreas due to various causes. Studies have shown different risk factors for the for pancreatitis. These include gallstones, alcohol consumption, fatty diet and hypertriglyceridemia. In addition it is not kown which diet should be followed to prevent recurrence in patients with acute pancreatitis attack. Although a fat-poor diet is recommended in daily practice, this has no sound scientific basis and is not recommended in guidelines. Intermittent fasting diet is a new dietary pattern that has become popular recently and is claimed to have a positive effect on obesity, cardiovascular diseases and blood lipids. The impact of intermittent fasting diet on the development of acute pancreatitis is not known. Thus, we planned to investigate the effect of intermittent fasting diet on pancreatitis attack in patients with acute pancreatitis attack. Acute pancreatitis patients with biliary etiology between the ages of 18 and 65 between 2019 and 2021 were involved in the study. The study was designed prospectively. The subjects involved in the study were given intermittent normal diet and intermittent fasting diet in two groups. Pancreatitis recurrence was evaluated after one month. The study included 171 patients. 70 patients (40.9%) received frequent intermittent normal diet, 101 patients (59.1%) received intermittent fasting diet. Among the subjects involved in the study, 69 (40.4%) were male. The mean age of the patients was 37.6 (3.2) / 50.1 (3.3) years lower in the group receiving frequent intermittent normal diet than in the group receiving intermittent fasting diet (p<0.001). When evaluated in terms of pancreatitis recurrence in the first month, 2 (2.9%) of the patients on frequent intermittent normal diet and 4 (4%) of the patients on intermittent fasting diet developed recurrence (P:0.70). Regression analysis showed that intermittent fasting diet did not prevent recurrence. Intermittent fasting diet does not reduce the recurrence of acute pancreatitis. Keywords: Acute pancreatitis, intermittent fasting diet, recurrence.
