Abstract (EN)
Acute pancreatitis is a common clinical condition. Excessive systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) in acute pancreatitis leads to distant organ damage and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS), which is the primary cause of morbidity and mortality in this condition. Erythropoietin, which is a hematopoetic hormone has pleotropik effects, can decrease ischemia/reperfusion injury, apopitosis and inflamation in many tissues. In this study we aimed to show the beneficial effect?s of eritropoetin on intestinal injury at acute pancreatitis.Three groups (sham, control and treatment groups) of Wistar Albino rats was included in our study. %4.5 Na taurocholate was infused into the pancreatic duct to constitute acute pancreatitis. 1000 U/kg/day doses of erythropoietin was applied intraperitoneally to the treatment group. On the fourth day of the study all groups was sacrified. WBC, serum amilaz, lipaz, CRP was evaluated. Glutathione reductase and catalase was measured in the intestinal homogenate. Additionally pancreas and intestine was observed histopathologicaly.WBC, serum amilaz, lipaz, CRP values was not significantly different between the 3 groups. Glutathione reductase and catalase values in the intestinal homogenate didn?t have statistical difference between the control group and the treatment group. Severety of injury of the pancreas and intestine was decreased histopathologicaly in the treatment group. The decrease of the injury was clear in pancreas however the decrease of the injury in intestine was less clear. It?s known that, erythropoietin decrease intestinal injury, apopitosis and inflamation in many tissues. In this study we show that, intestinal injury caused by acute pancreatitis can be prevented with erythropoietin. Further investigations must be done to clarified the effect?s of eritropoetin on intestinal oxidatif injury, apopitosis.Key Words: Acute pancreatitis, Erythropoietin, Intestinal injury.
