Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted as an analytical and cross-sectional study in order to determine the treatment compliance of patients with bipolar disorder, to find out their social functioning and social support level and to determine the relationship between each other. There are patients of Mazhar Osman Mental Health and Neurological Diseases Training and Research Hospital. The sample size in G power statistical analysis, confidence interval 95% effect size 0.3, alpha 0.05, power 0.80 can be taken as comprehensive 82. In the study, the pattern effect was calculated as 1.1 and the number of patients to be reached was calculated as 90. The study consists of 4 forms as a data collection tool. The descriptive information form, which includes sociodemographic information of the patients, consists of Morisky Treatment Compliance Scale, Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale and Brief Functionality Assessment Scale. The data of the study were analyzed using SPSS 22 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) program. In addition to descriptive statistics, t test, Anova test and Pearson correlation analysis were used to compare mean scores in independent groups and .P<0.05 was considered statistically significant. It was determined that 48.9% of patients had low compliance, 27.8% had moderate compliance and 23.3% had high compliance. No correlation was found between drug treatment compliance and social functionality (p> 0.05). A weak positive correlation was found between compliance with drug therapy and social support family, friend sub-dimension, and social support total score scores (p <0.05). As a result, drug compliance is higher for women, obese patients, university graduates, patients with higher income, those who do not use alcohol / substance, those who have been thrown into the hospital voluntarily, who have been hospitalized once in the last 1 year, and those who have not seen ECT. Family social support of obese patients, family and total social support of married people, family social support of those with more than income, family social support of patients who have three or more children and living in the nuclear family, friends and and total social support of patients who are voluntarily admitted, suicide attempt those who do not have a high level of human social support. The functionality of women, obese, elementary school graduates, patients with more than income, patients with no social security, and those who did not use alcohol were found to have low functionality in the last 1 year. In line with this results, the establishment of training programs to increase the treatment compliance of patients with bipolar disorder, increasing the rate of continuing treatment by planning and reminding appointments, as well as implementing psychoeducation programs to increase social functionality and including families in these programs, It has been suggested that educational programs and consultancy should be provided to patients' relatives about the importance of social support they need.
