Investigation of the aquarium plant Sagittaria subulata growth and development in different food environments

Abstract (EN)

In this study, has been investigated controlled growth and development of sagittaria subulata which is one of the most preferred plants in commercially important vegetated aquariums in aquarium environment. In order to measure the potential of different fertilizer groups, growth and development rates due to leaf width, root length, height development, number of individuals and age weight were observed in fixed laboratory conditions. The results of the study showed that in the base material enriched with cow, worm and chicken fertilizers, leaf width, root length, height development and number of individuals cause to increase compared to the control group without food addition. The highest increase in the number of individuals was found in the cow fertilizer group. In this group, 30 plants were initially planted in the beginning and 64 ± 1 individuals were harvested at the end of the study. Sprouts smaller than 5 cm were not counted as individuals. Although new individuals were formed in other fertilizer groups and control groups, they were not taken into consideration because they were smaller than 5 cm. There was a statistically significant difference between cow fertilizer group and other groups (P<0,05). No statistically significant difference was found between worm, chicken and control groups (P>0,05). The highest age weight gain was respectively 0,82±0,35 grams, worm fertilizer group, 0,46±0,11 grams, chicken fertilizer group was 0,34±0,14 grams and control group was 0,26±0,14 grams. It was noted that the mean age weight increase between the cow fertilizer group and the control group was statistically different from each other. (P<0,05) There was no statistically significant difference between the other groups. The average leaf length was found to be 3,9± 0,8 cm in the highest cow fertilizer group. Respectively, worm fertilizer group was 3,3±1,2cm, poultry fertilizer group was 2,3±1,4 cm and control group was 1,1±0,8 cm. There was no statistically significant difference between cow, worm and chicken fertilizer groups (P>0,05). When the control group and fertilizer supplement groups were compared, a statistically significant difference was noted. (P<0,05) In terms of number of leaf counts have been found, average 8±2 pieces in the highest mean cow fertilizer, then respectively average 4±1 pieces in the chicken fertilizer group, average 4±1 pieces in the worm fertilizer group and average 3±1 pieces in the control group. It was seen that there was a significant difference between the cow fertilizer group and the other groups in the number of leaves. (P<0,05) Has been found that the biggest growth and development in terms of root length is 5,7±1,2 cm in worm fertilizer group, then respectively it was 4,9±1,0 cm in cow fertilizer group, 3,2±0,9 cm in chicken fertilizer group and 2,89±1,2 cm in control group. There was no significant difference was found between chicken and control group and between worm and cow fertilizer groups. The leaf width has been seen the highest in the cow fertilizer group was 0,57±0,23 cm then respectively the leaf width has been seen like 0,33±0,19 cm in worm fertilizer group and chicken fertilizer group 0,31±0,21 cm, 0,06±0,21 cm in control group. There was a significant difference between chicken and cow fertilizer groups and control groups. (P<0,05).
