Adaptation of the Alabama Parenting Gustionnaire Child Form into Turkish: Validity and reliability study

The purpose of this study is to adapt the 'Alabama Parenting Questionnaire Child Form' which was originally developed by Frick (1991) into the Turkish language, to check its reliability and validity. The APQ-CF was developed to measure parental behavior and it consists of forty-two points and five subdimensions on a five-point Likert scale. The adaptation study was implemented on 679 students in primary and middle school. Primarily to adapt APQ-CF the approval of the scale developer was obtained. The original form of the scale was translated from Turkish to English by three domain experts. The Turkish form was inspected by a Turkish Teaching domain expert and essential alterations were made upon their proposal. The acquired Turkish form was applied to 15 students from different grade levels in primary school, and it was finalized in line with the feedback received. Kaiser-Mayer-Olkin (KMO) has been calculated, its data is very good and validated to decide whether it is suitable for factor analysis for selection to calculate its reliability, its data is very comprehensive and if not combined, it is targeted with the Bartlett (sphericity) significance level test. In addition, Skewness and kurtosis values were checked. Confirmatory factor analysis was performed for construct validity. For the reliability analyzes of the scale, repeat-test reliability analyses, Cronbach Alpha internal orderliness, Spearman ordinal values, differences in Spearman values, Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Spearman-Brown values were calculated. The things that are related to the reliability of the scale with the collected data are the item comprehensiveness. To have information about the contents of the items, the Cronbach alpha of the entire content was calculated. For the research, it is used to benefit from the suitable ones.
