The underground sources of alacakaya district (Elazığ) and its surrounding area and their usage situation

Humans provide the necessary needs to sustain their existence from the soil they live on. To protect a nation's independence, to defend its country and to live its people at the level of contemporary civilization, it has to know how to make the most and best use of the possibilities granted by its land. Mineral deposits are found in relation to certain types of rocks, chromium deposits develop only in basic and ultra basic rocks. It was discovered in 1787 by French chemist N.L VAUGUELIN as chrome mineral. Chromite is an important mineral with economical preparation in Turkey. First time in Bursa - Harmancık region was found in 1848. And then very important deposits were discovered in our country. After the establishment of MTA and Etibank in 1935, chrome search and mining developed. In 1935, chrome deposits were found by Abdullah HÜSREV and it was put into operation in 1936. In this study, general properties of chrome deposits; Elaboration and production activities of elazığ have been tried to be completed, classification and usage areas of chrome deposits. Definition of marble, marble reserves in the world and export and import of marble production amount are given. Marble extraction - production areas in Turkey and therefore in Elazığ, marble types in Elazığ and their market conditions have been tried to be given. The mining and marble sector, which has a significant place for national development at the national level, becomes even more important when considering the situation in other sectors of the province for Elazığ at the local level. The province has a remarkable level of potential in the marble context. This is the effect of the natural stone marble species that gives priority to Elazığ in terms of both reserves and varieties. Elazığ has %8 of Turkey's marble reserves. This is a large marble is an important reserve ratio within Turkey, which is the exporter. In addition to its reserve amount, Elazığ has a world-wide reputation and has a colored marble product called Elazığ Vişne which is known in the world literature as Rosso Levanto. This natural stone offers the potential to carry Elazığ in a marvelous place both in Turkey and around the world.
