Özet (EN)
This paper is mainly based on the articles written by two columnists in their newspapers a full century ago, which were in the name of Alemdar and Tasvir-i Efkâr. These had been already founded. The time period of study is from 30 October 1918 to 16 March 1920 for the Tasvir-i Efkâr and from 15 December 1918 to 16 March 1920 for the Alemdar. In those time intervals, the columnists were Velid Ebuzziya in the Tasvir-i Efkâr, who comes from a journalist family, and Refi' Cevad in the Alemdar. Since this research deals with the immediate post World War One period, the recent events were just within their sight. Thus, the painful history that they experienced as a cause of both daily issues and ongoing problems took place in their columns together. The Armstice of Mudros was signed following a war from which the Ottoman Empire had been defeated. In the First World War, the Ottomans experienced the hardest times in their history politically, socially, economically, and so on. All tribulations, of course, did not end with the signature of the agreement. The concerns for the future of country, maybe the most important, were attached to them. Despite all these downsides, a hope for future was not completely destroyed in the remaining parts. This complicated mood was reflected in the authors' writings almost every day. With the Izmir's occupation, the extremely different period was started to live in relation to the country's fate. The Greek invasion triggered the national revival in Anatolia, in particular. The leader of this movement would become Mustafa Kemal Pasha, whereas he always pointed to the nation's success. Those two authors opposed each other mostly for this issue. The present study is a product of trying to reveal the views of Refi' Cevad and Velid Ebuzziya regarding the above-mentioned issues.
