Abstract (EN)

The relationship between perceived parental attitudes and future expectations of adolescents was discussed in this study. One of the quantative resarch methods, Relational screening model was used in the research. The population of this research consists of Anatolian high school students in İstanbul. The sample of the study, on the other hand, consists of 321 students in high schools at Bahçelievler, Güngören and Arnavutköy. Measurement tools were applied to 321 high school students who voluntarily participated in this study. In the study, 'Demographic Information Form', 'Parent Attitude Scale' developed in Kuzgun (1972) and Adolescent Future Expectations Scale developed in Tuncer (2011) were used to collect data. IBM SPSS Statistics 24.00 program was used for analysis. Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test was used to find out whether the scales showed normal distribution. The non-parametric Mann Whitlney U test was used to compare the means of two independent groups in the analysis of the data; and the Kruksal Wallis H test was used to compare the means of two or more groups. According to the results of the research; a significant relationship was found in line with the correlation between the "Parent Attitude Scale" and the Adolescent Future Expectation Scale "and its sub-dimensions. It was determined that the mean score of 'democratic attitude' significantly differentiated from the sub-dimensions of the Parental Attitude Scale. It is seen from the sub-dimensions of the Adolescent Future Expectation Scale that the mean scores of 'job and education' expectation differ significantly. As the democratic attitude of adolescents' parents increases; the protective-demanding and authoritarian attitude of the parents decreases. It has been determined that, as the democratic attitude of adolescents' parents increases; job and education, marriage and family, religion and society, health and life expectancies increase. The findings were discussed in the light of the relevant literature and recommendations were made. Keywords: Parental Attitudes, Adolescence, Future Expectations.
