Teachers opinions for perceived manager support and loneliness in business life

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research; to determine the opinions of teachers of secondary education institutions about the managerial support, the level of loneliness in business life, to determine whether or not there was a significant relationship between the opinions and the views of teachers according to demographic variables is to determine whether a significant difference. The research which was performed with relational screening model was carried out in the 2016-2017 academic year that formed 426 teachers working in central district of Bolu province's secondary education institutions. During the research process was used personal information form, Perceived Supervisor Support Scale and Loneliness at Work Scale. Research data has been resolved with the program SPSS 15, Analysis of the data was done by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Mann Whitney-U, Kruskal Wallis and Spearman Rho correlation analysis. According to results from research; While opinions about manager support that teachers perceive are in the level of "I agree" in total, opinions about loneliness in business life are examined, they are "somewhat appropriate" in total; Emotional deprivation subdimension is "not appropriate", and in the social friendliness dimension it is "appropriate". xvi In line with the demographic variables of teachers; Perceptions of managerial support and loneliness in business life are as follows: Perception of managerial support of teachers did not show any significant difference according to the variables of age, marital status, education status and years of seniority. In other words; age, married or single, graduated or postgraduated and years of seniority of the teachers are not influential variables in managerial support perceptions, and teacher opinions are similar. Besides, the perception of managerial support by the teachers showed a significant difference according to the gender variable, male teachers perceive manager support more than women. While the opinions of the teachers about loneliness in the working life did not make a meaningful difference compared to the variables of gender, age, education status and seniority in total, they made a meaningful difference to the marital status variable. In other words, while teachers are male or female, they must be graduates of undergraduate or graduate school, and seniority years are not influential variables in their views on loneliness in business life, the views of the teachers are similar, married or unmarried have led them to think differently. Married teachers feel more lonely in their work life than others. While the opinions of the teachers regarding the emotional deprivation sub-dimension of loneliness in business life do not make a meaningful difference according to gender and educational status variables, variables of age, marital status, and education is created a significant difference. In other words, while gender and educational status are not influential variables in teachers' emotional deprivation, age, marital status and seniority is effective and has caused teachers to think differently. In terms of age change, older people, married teachers and older people with more seniority in their lives have more emotional deprivation than others. In the social life dimension of loneliness in business life, opinions of teachers do not show any significant difference according to variables of age, marital status, xvii education status and years of seniority , but they show a significant difference in favor of female teachers according to gender. In other words, age, marital status, education status and seniority are not effective variables in teachers' views towards social friendship, but gender has differentiated among opinions of teachers. Female teachers make more social friendships than male teachers and are less lonely at this dimension. According to teacher opinions, a negative correlation at a low level was found between the manager support perceived and the emotional deprivation sub-dimension of the loneliness in business life, but there was a moderately positive positive relationship with social friendliness subscale. Along with that No significant relationship was found between managerial support that teachers perceive with opinions on the sum of loneliness in business life.
