The cinema of Ali Özgentürk

This study reveals the representation of the director as an individual in Turkish cinema through the example of Ali Özgentürk cinema. For this purpose, the films Hazal (1979), At (1981), Bekçi (1984) and Su da Yanar (1987) that Ali Özgentürk shot between 19791987 will be examined. In the method part, the concept of the auteur approach will be explained and opinions about the approach will be included. The study is going to focus on the emergence of the concept of the individual, then the individuality is going to be discussed in the context of world cinema and Turkey.Then the concept of director as an individual is going to be explained and the movements associated with this concept is going to be examined. Since Ali Özgentürk films, which were shot between 1979-1987, were found appropriate to analyze to what extent the director could reflect his individuality at a time when the effects of the September 12 military coup continued, it is aimed to make a purposeful sampling.
