SUMMARY This study is a fieldwork concentrated on the perception models of religious behaviours by the addicts of alcohol. The method used here is a guestionnaire technigue of the survey method. This study aims at to determine the status of the religious performance of o hundred alcoholic patients who are under a care at Bakırköy Hospital of Mental Illnesses, specifically their status before and / or after the use of alcohol. The survey is mainly consisted of three chapters: The first chapter deals with the social effects of alcohol addiction, its historical background, and the socialogical importance of the research on the subjet-matter. The second chapter make an emphasis on the introduction, the model and the scape of the study and also on the collection of the reguired data. In the third chapter, the findings of the study are waluated and classified accordingly. As a result: Alcoholism is a bio-pscho-social illness. This is all the same through the course of history. There has been a contradictory relation between the alcoholism and the religious structure. The higher the guality of the religious life is the loucer the possibility of being alcoholic will be. When there is a decrease in religious behaviours, an increase is expected in alcoholism. Such a conclusion can be derived from this study. Propositions pertaining to the subject matler have been made as well.
