Özet (EN)

The study searched the relationship between traumatic experience background and impulsive tendencies of people with alcohol and substance addiction. The research sample consists of 102 people, 8 of whom are women, who applied to the outpatient clinic of the psychiatry department in the AMATEM unit of Sakarya Research Hospital. The data collection tools in the research as follows: Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS-11), Post-Traumatic Stress Diagnostic Scale (PTSTÖ), and Addiction Profile Index (BAPI), and the Sociodemographic Information Form prepared by the researcher was applied. SPSS program was used to compare and interpret the data obtained through the scales. Considering the subject and purpose of the study, after checking the prerequisites, it was decided to apply Multiple Linear Regression analysis and SPSS PROCESS (v4.2) Mediating Variable analysis. However, the significance level for the research was determined as "p<0,05"; the significance level of the findings is mostly "p<0,01". As a result, a positive significant relationship was found between alcohol and substance addiction, trauma history, and impulsivity: Impulsivity plays the role of a "partial mediator variable" in the significant effect of trauma history on the level of alcohol and substance addiction.
