The problems encountered by Turkish migrant workers in Germany-centered Turkish immigrant literature

Since the 18th century, the relationship between art and reality has gained volume and led to the use of descriptions and expressions related to social life in literature. As a matter of fact, the phenomenon of "working life", which is indispensable for social life, has also penetrated literary themes. As a result of this development, literary works have become a potential data source for social sciences and have been used by various scientific disciplines. The purpose of this research; To make literary themes related to the phenomenon of working life visible and industrial relations, labor history, etc. of literary texts. to reveal that it can be used as a data source by social science disciplines. The fact that literature is a structure composed of many movements and traditions has led to the necessity of limiting the research to a specific field. The works included in the 1st generation Germany-based Turkish immigrant literature, which frequently use the themes of working life, were determined as the universe of the research. The problems encountered by the first generation Turkish migrant workers employed in the Federal German labor market in their working life were determined as the subject of research, taking into account the usual and more frequently expressed thematic emphasis of the literary works in question. A total of 159 literary works by 11 immigrant authors were scanned using the particular scanning approach, which is one of the advanced scanning methods, and it was concluded that a total of 20 works provided findings related to the research topic. These 20 works were determined as samples and a data set was prepared by extracting the dialogues, monologues and descriptions related to the research topic. The highlights of this data set were coded in 6 main and 2 sub-themes and analyzed using the content analysis method. When the data set was interpreted in the light of qualitative and quantitative findings in the literature, it was found to be consistent with reality and It has been concluded that literary texts can be used as data sources in social sciences such as industrial relations and labor history. In addition, the quantitative images presented by the data set were determined by using the "tree node" function of the "NVivo 11 Pro" program, which is one of the computer aided qualitative data analysis applications. As a matter of fact, it has been seen that the findings related to the main theme of "problems arising from the physical characteristics of the business environment and the attitude of the business management" take up more space in the data set. When similar studies in the National Thesis Center, Google Scholar and Academia databases are examined, it has been observed that the themes related to migration in the 1st generation Germany-centered Turkish immigrant literature are handled more comprehensively, and are examined by different disciplines, especially sociology and literature. The absence of a research prepared with an approach focused directly on working life has added original value to this thesis.
