Barter system as an alternative trade model and financial technic, and Barter applications in Turkey

The globalism makes the world trading develop rapidly and spread out nowadays and it brings busy competition and the dependency to global market in both national and international market. On the other hand, increasing cost of the money because of the global crisis creates cash problems and stagnation in trading activities. Due to these facts, the companies live the difficulties to hold on with traditional financing and marketing methods and look for alternative methods. One of these methods is the Barter system supported by latest developments which was in fact the new version of the exchange used as trading method since firts ages. Bartering which lost its importance by the invention of money, came up as a way to rescue from the depression caused by the world economic crisis in 1929. In our country, bartering has been existing corporationally since 90's. It is a commercing model and financial method to give the companies the chance to purchase the goods or services they need by their owns. System gives some advantages like reducing their stock, making their idle capacity used, increasing their sales, having new markets, free advertisement and interest free credit. Bartering which is offered to companies as an alternative trading and financial technique to modern economies composes the subject of this thesis. The main goal of the thesis is to introduce the barter system, explain how it works in our country and to inspect the benefits of bartering operations to companies by the means of trade and finance. In the thesis including seven sections, the bartering system is firstly explained in all its parts with the help of examples, then the findings and proposals obtained from applications made by bartering processes were taken apart. In the application, the bartering progress data that was obtained by using face to face interview methodology, were so inspected that the commercial and financial benefits of bartering process to the companies can be seen numerically. Some printed documents obtained from the companies using bartering were used in. The research showed that the barter is not well known in Turkey and it is necessary to have a legal legislation or regulations to use it efficiently and safely. As a result, the bartering is an important and alternative way against to traditional mentality depending on interest and commanding the world. It could be mentioned that it could be trading method or financial way contribute to Turkey's economy by making necessary legal legislation to introduce, develop and spread out it.
