Abstract (EN)
This study aims to analyze urban green spaces spatially within the Altındağ district of Ankara province, create a numerical inventory of these spaces, and develop micro-scale recommendations for their more effective management. The positive effects of urban green spaces on quality of life and their critical roles in the planning process are addressed within the framework of both national legislation and international standards. Despite the green space standard of 10 m² per capita determined in Turkey, it has been observed that this rate is frequently not achieved at the local level, and this amount is decreasing, especially in large cities. Analyses conducted specifically in the Altındağ district revealed that while the amount of active green space per capita in Ankara is 21 m², this rate is 8.64 m² in Altındağ, which is below the national standard. Furthermore, issues such as the fragmented structure of green spaces, accessibility problems, and lack of information at the neighborhood level are highlighted. In the study, data on green spaces were digitized using geographic information systems (GIS), and comparative analyses were performed using orthophoto images from 2008, 2018, and 2024. Detailed spatial analyses were conducted by overlapping green spaces with zoning plans, evaluating them according to accessibility and adequacy standards, and measuring the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect.
