Abstract (EN)
This thesis aims to functionally examine the case suffixes and the case categories indicated by these suffixes in the seventh and eighth books of Altun Yaruk Sudur, one of the most important and voluminous Buddhist translation texts belonging to the Old Uyghur Turkish period. The study also aims to explain the case structure in Old Uyghur Turkish and its functioning in the works in detail and tries to show the formal variations, usage rates and syntactic functions of the case suffixes. For this purpose, first of all, the seventh and eighth books of Altun Yaruk were scanned in detail; as a result of this scan, the case suffixes were evaluated from a functional point of view based on meaning in the context and the case category they belong to (explanation, presence, source, qualification, dative, etc.) was determined. Each task element is listed under the relevant subheadings and illustrated with sample sentences taken from the works, and the usage rates within the total case categories are presented in tables. As a result of the study, the determined task elements, the status categories expressed by these task elements, the number of task elements, the percentage rate within the status category expressed by the task element, and the percentage rates of the task elements within the task elements used in Altun Yaruk (VII. and VIII. Tegzinç) are expressed in tables. As a result, the structural and functional diversity of case categories in Old Uyghur Turkish has been revealed.
