Abstract (EN)

For Daily Production Industry lightness in constructions has started to take part as a majorconstraint. Especially in automotive industry producers make investigations for lighter, moreeconomic, comfortable and secure vehicles. That?s why usage of light materials likealuminum has increased.Increasing usage of aluminum urge people to find best production methods. This article is areport on the affect of shielding gas mixtures on Aluminum alloys in TIG welding. 5005Aluminum Alloy welded with TIG welding method which is advised by many investigators.Three different types of gas mixtures pure Argon, 67% Argon - 33% Helium and 33% Argon- 67% Helium were used respectively. By manipulating ratio of gas mixtures of Argon andHelium in TIG welding method mechanical and physical property of weld beam wasinvestigated. Samples were analyzed mechanically (stress analyses, micro hardness analyses)and physically (micro and macro structures) in one of the leading investigation center ofTurkey, TUBITAK.The increase of weld bead, penetration and tensile stress with increasing Helium ratio andmicro hardness with increasing Argon ratio is major outputs of the investigation. Results weresimilar to worldwide accepted researches. Keywords: Shielding Gas, Aluminum Alloys, TIG Welding.JURY:4. Prof. Dr. Selahattin YUMURTACI (Supervisor) Kabul Tarihi: 15.09.20065.
