Process control in aluminium extrusion

In this study, properties of the aluminium and extrusion methods were mentioned.In additionto this, extrusion variables were groupped and due to improve the productivity in thealuminium extrusion process, assorted procedures were suggested.These procedures wereflow charts and checklists.By this way, causes of defects could be easilydetermined.Moreover, this study includes extrusion defects, causes and its related solutions.Inthe application chapter; blister and blowhole defects were considered as a sample defect typeand these defects were shown by micro and macro dimensioned photographs and the reasonof these defects were revealed.Finally, deductions and assumptions which have been obtainedfrom the investigations were listed.Key words: Extrusion, aluminium, process control, extrusion defects.
