Abstract (EN)
Physical and chemical agents are joining to human life and as a result of scientific and technological developments. These agents cause some health problems to human life. Nowadays newest chemical products still take part in our daily life. Before these products, usage investigations of the effects of these substences to humans health should be carried out. On the other hand nowadays it is well known that plants and their extracts, important part of alternative medical, shows antimutagenic effect against mutagenic chemicals and enviromental factors, so they prevents mutations. But, at the same time plant extracts show mutagenic effects. Various in vitro test systems have used for determination of their mutagenic effects. In the present study, possible mutagenic effects of water extracts of Alyssum virgatum have been investigated with Ames test. In this study, Salmonella typhimurium TA 98 ve TA 100 strains were employed. Therefore, both test strains were tested in the absence or presence of S9 metabolic activation. Results of experiments were compared with positive and negative control groups data. Consequently its mutagenicity was not observed in our study.
