The Volumes of the 17 th and 18 th centuries in Amasya Bayezid province public library

ABSTRACT:In this thesis, the volumes of the 17 th and 18 th centuries in AmasyaBayezid Province Public Library have been investigated according to theirform, material, technique, ornament and styles.In the catalogue, the observation index cadrds of total 112 volumes,55of them with date of 17 th century and 57 of them with the 18 th century, areincluded and by means of this information an evaluation has been performed.Since the material of the samples investigated in the catalogue isleather, the tecniques applied at these volumes are also the techniques ofyekşah, painting and printing relief by model. At the technique of printingrelief by model, cold, hot, mülevven, mülemma, down separeting, upseparating and burying şemse have been applied.At the ornaments of şemse at the volumes, plant ornament is morecommon and geometrical ornaments are also seen. At the plant ornament,curled, leaf, hatayi and naturalist styled flowers, rumi, palmet and lotus havebeen seen. At the geometrical ornaments there aren?t certain ornaments.Other than these, cloud motif stylized by nature are often used.By considering the ornament program, 5 compositions and the sub-types of these compositions and total 10 types of compositions have beendetermined. These ornament and compositions have been compared withthe ornament programs of the volumes and the architect elements takingplace in the other libraries. Considering the forms of the volumes, theirornaments and compositions, 3 styles have been determined.These obtained results have briefly described in the conclusion.
