Abstract (EN)
With the development of the human sciences and the increase in the number of women writers in literature, the autobiographical genre continued to develop remarkably. This genre, which has been developing since the seventies with the autobiographical literary theorist Philippe Lejeune, plays a dominant role among other literary genres. Women writers who prefer autobiographical writing seek identity. Like many women writers who prefer this genre, Amélie Nothomb is also a writer in search of identity. Nothomb achieved great success since the publication of her first novel. Nothomb, one of the most prolific women writers of the Francophone literature, frequently talks about herself in her works. In our thesis, we will first discuss the autobiography and other similar genres. Then, considering Nothomb's life, we will try to explain why she prefers writing this genre of writing. We will witness how the author reflects her state of mind in her works and adds humor to her works without considering the seriousness of all her experiences by mocking her situation. We will analyse three of her works that are very similar to the real life of the author who prefers autobiographical genre in most of her works in autobiographical aspect. In this context, we will conclude our work by addressing the issues of identity, loneliness, death and body, which are frequently mentioned in these works. Keywords: Amélie Nothomb, autobiography, quest for identity, loneliness, death, body.
