Abstract (EN)

Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the effect of fear of falling on the moving fear and fall risk during mobilization ın operated patients. Method: The data of descriptive and cross-sectional research was collected between 1st May and 25 May 2019 from patients who are hospitalized in surgery clinics in Katip Celebi University Hospital. The sample included 215 operated patients. Data were collected by using The Patient Descriptive Characteristics Form, and The Fear of Falling Scale, and Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia, and Itaki Fall Risk Scale. Data were analyzed with SPSS 25.0. Socio-demographic data and clinical characteristics were presented in number, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Number and percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t test, one way analysis of variance, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis H test, Bonferroni analysis and Spearman correlation analysis were used to evaluate the data. Results: There was a statistically significant relationship between the fear of falling in the postoperative mobilization (1. Mobilization=2.24±1.19, 2. Mobilization=1.83±1.10) and the pain level of the patients (Pain level 1st mobilization =5.58±2.98, Pain level 2nd mobilization =4.05±2.76), the fear of movement due to mobilization (43.53±5.32), and the Itaki risk of falling (8.94±3.85; 8.49±3.71) (Between 1. Fear of falling and r1. pain=0.335, r2. pain=0.247, rTSK=0.296, r1. Itaki =0.210, r2. Itaki =0.213 p<0.05; Between 2. Fear of falling and r1. pain=0.245, r2. pain=0.276, rTSK=0.368, r1. Itaki =0.241, r2. Itaki =0.238 p<0.05). Conclusion: In this study, it is concluded for the patients that if the fear of falling during mobilisation in the postoperative period is increased, the fear of movement due to mobilization and the risk of falling were determined to increase. It is recommended that nurses determine the risk of falls in patients in the postoperative period and encourage mobilization. Keywords: Fear of falling, fear of movement due to mobilization, fall risk, operated patients
