Attitudes of operating theatre workers to patient safety

This research was performed to evaluate the attitudes of operating theater workers to patient safety. The study was carried out on 200 operating theatre workers (surgeons, anesthetists, anesthesia technicians, anesthesia nurses, and operating theater nurses) of İzmir Katip Çelebi University Atatürk Education and Research Hospital. Datas were collected by using an Employee Information Form and SAQ-OR Version. Avarage, standart deviation, frequency, percentage were used to provide descriptive data. Oneway anova, t test, kruskall wallis h test, mann whitney u test were used in order to determine relationship between datas. It was determined that safety attitude point avarage of operating employees are higher and difference between them are significant who have specialized experience 6-10 years and 11 years or more, only in daytime, voluntarily at operating rooms, an average of 40 hours per week and participiants of job training and orientation programme. Compared employees with their colleagues and other team members it was determined to be beter communication and collaboration with other team members than each other. It was proposed to plan implementation to reduce stres levels of employees, organize working hours as law-suit, support operating theatre workers to join orientation program before to work the hospital, organize implementations to improve communication and collaboration between team members with each other and other team members, support operation theatre workers and directors to join the educational programmes which are prepared related to patient safety.
