Abstract (EN)

Objective: The aim of our study is to investigate histological, ultrastructural, biochemical levels whether taurine and vitamin B6 administration have a preventive role against damage to the rat hippocampus in the rat alzheimer's model induced by Aß (1-42) Method: In our study, 72 male wistar rats weighing 250-350 gr were used. The rats divided into 9 groups. Alzheimer's model was created by injecting intracerebroventricular Aß (1-42). Groups were given injections for 3 weeks. Damage of the hippocampus was analyzed by the Morris water maze learning experiment, biochemical tests, histological staining, and electron microscopic examination. Results: As a result of the morris water maze experiment we conducted, it was found that learning was better in the Alzheimer group, where we applied combined therapy, compared to other Alzheimer groups. In histological and ultrastructural evaluation, while neuron loss, neuron degeneration and amyloid accumulation were observed in the Alzheimer's group; We observed that the group in which we applied taurine-B6 combined therapy significantly reduced these effects. Conclusion: As a result, we found that the combined application of taurine and B6 has a preventive effect against damage to the hippocampus in Alzheimer's disease. We think that this finding will contribute to the literature in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Key words: alzheimer, hippocampus, taurine, vit B6
