Analysis of Surah al-Nur in the context of its main topics

The Qur'an was revealed in stages over approximately twenty three years in response to events, situations or needs that arose during the period of its revelation. Therefore, it is difficult to find a unity of meaning in sura or groups of verses. In addition, the fact that the Qur'an is the word of Allah and has a unique language and style are among the factors that affect its correct understanding. In order to perceive the true meaning of verses, the science of tafsir was needed. In this sense, the method of thematic exegesis has been a method that helps to understand the integrity of meaning between the general meaning of a surah and the verse or between the verses themselves. The aim of the study is to reveal the connection between the verses by obtaining the subjective integrity in surah an-Nur and is to strive to perceive the message that the want to give the present day correctly. Fort this purpose in this study; we find in surah an-Nur three main subject. The verses that have a connection with these main topics were brought together under subheadings and the surah was analyzed. In the analysis part, the content of the verses related to the attributes of Allah, ethics and mu'amalāmāt, which constitute the main subjects of the surah, and their explanations and evaluations in classical and recent tafsir works are included. The meaning and conclusions drawn from all these are presented in the conclusion part of the study. Keywords: Tafsir, Qur'an, Surah an-Nur, Nur, Morality.
