The role of listening skill in teaching Arabic language to non-native speakers of Arabic

In this study, listening skill in language teaching and the role of this skill in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers were discussed. The study started by explaining the importance of the sense of hearing, its stages of formation, and its place in the Qur'an and hadith. Then, the definition, nature, importance of listening skill and its relationship with other skills were given. Then, depending on the linguistic levels, the purposes of this skill were explained and its place in foreign language teaching theories was mentioned. The importance of the teacher's role in teaching listening skill was emphasized. Without neglecting the shape and dimensions of the listening process, the components of conscious listening were explained and suggestions were presented for the teaching of this skill. Strategies for learning to listen, types of strategies, factors affecting the structure of strategy, techniques of strategy formation, steps of learning strategy, purpose of strategy and characteristics of activities based on strategies were tried to be explained. With the hope that it will contribute to the lesson plan and curriculum developers while preparing their plans and curricula, the preparation of audio training materials with all its stages and details, together with the strategies, was mentioned. Then, two sample lesson plans were presented to teach the listening skill by transferring all the theoretical strategies and rules - as much as possible - to the classroom environment and practical life. Finally, an alternative program design for visual (based on watching TV series) Arabic learning is presented, using some strategies both mentioned and not mentioned in the research. In the implementation of the program in question, the most up-to-date linguistic theories were taken into account so that students could avoid traditional methods of learning Arabic and learn Arabic quickly and in a short time.
