ABSTRACT The Anatolian High School Students' Opinions on Effectively Taking Part or not Taking Part in Physical Education Lessons: The Adana Sample The objective of our study is to determine school children's opinions in the Anatolian high school on joining or not joining actively the activities of physical education classes which they take throughout their school life, how much benefit they get from physical education classes, whether it has a negative or positive effect on their lives, whether sport plays a part in their free time daily. In this study 482 subjects out of schoolchildren in the Anatolian high school in Adana were chosen randomly by simple random sampling method. Questionnaire was prepared after the literature scanning in the field. A.specialist was consulted on the chosen questions; data on the research variables developed by the researcher was collected via written questionnaire. Square and suitable tests in SPSS program were applied to test if there was a difference in terms of variables in analyzing the data. After the questioner consisting of 22 questions we had, we found out that physical education teachers have not done enough studies on the activities that the students interested in, although they know theoretically that individuals should make the best of their off-time. It is hard to do this in practice because of lock of time, income, hard study conditions, having not enough gyms and the most important one is the unwillingness of families. According to the gender why female students do sport activities is to keep fit and physical and mental growth.
