Attitude towards the teaching profession of the senior class students in Anatolian teaching high schools

This research is to determine the attitudes towarts teaching proffesion of the senior class students who were coatiname to Anatolian Teaching High School.The universe of this research was the senior class students of Anatolian Teaching High School.The sample of this research includes 250 senior class students of Anatolian Teaching High school in Marmara Region (2007-2008 Academic Year)The data were obtained by the scale of the attitude towards teaching profession (Çetin,2003).This scale contains two compenents. First part of this scale provides personal information. Other part of the scale includes 35 attitude statements related to sub-dimensions of ?love?, ?value? and ?consistence? which were prepared to determine the attitudes towards teaching profession.The data were obtained from scale was analysed by the help of the SPSS (The Statistical Packet for Social Sciences).Frequency and Percentage values that related with the first part of the scale was calculated. In order to determine the differences among attitudes, T-test was used for two-way comparisons for independent groups and ANOVA was used in order to compare variableS OF groups more than two. Scheffe- Test was used in case of finding the difference meaningful.These are the obtained indications from the research; Boys have more average than girls in giving importance to the teaching profession. The children whose parents have low education have more averenge towards love, value and consistence than the children whose parents have higher education. The students who have a teacher in their families have more average towards the consistence than the ones who do not. It could be seen that the students love, value and the consistence attitude points are in high level.Key words: Attitudes, vocational attitude, education system, teacher training.
