Investigation of darushifa buildings in the Anatolian Seljuk and Ottoman Empire

In this study, the concept of "Hospital in Anatolian Seljuks and Ottomans", which is a part of social complex structures, is examined; The architectures of the hospitals, their function schemes, their changes in the historical process and their current uses were evaluated. In this process; Archives of the General Directorate of Foundations, Istanbul Regional Directorate of Foundations, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Istanbul Regional Directorate for the Protection of Cultural and Natural Heritage Archives and the Archives of the Ministry of Culture were examined and all documents were carefully scanned. Within the scope of the thesis, hospital buildings still in use throughout Turkey were visited and examined. Afterwards, based on the concept of darüşşifa, especially Prof. Dr. Süheyl Ünver and Prof. Dr. Theses, articles and printed publications covering Gönül Cantay's works were examined in detail. For the Suleymaniye Darüşşifa, on-site photography and surveying were carried out to the extent permitted by the construction site process. Since restoration work continues in the building, entrance and exit to the building can only be made partially with permission and control. For this reason, there were parts that could not be entered and measured. Within the scope of this structure, relevant Preservation Board meetings were attended and the condition of the building in previous years was also evaluated. Afterwards, a proposed restoration project for the building was prepared. In addition, some historical buildings that are still in use as treatment centers were examined functionally and spatially.
