Abstract (EN)

The concept of a learning organization has become an issue in literature since 1990s. Generally, studies on companies have started to include educational institutions in recent years. It has been expressed that to possess characteristics of a learning organization shall be a significant step in catching an advantage of competition in knowledge-based society. It has been suggested if the universities which are educational institutions should be learning organizations, then it would be useful for them in adjusting to change surrounding them.General aim of this research is to reveal the views of faculty members in Anadolu University?s being a learning organization.The study was performed in survey model. Survey of literature related with the subject was carried out in the first part of the study and conceptual frame was proved. In compliance with aim and figure of the study, a scale which consists of two parts and related with the faculty members views in the university included in study scope has been used. The first part of the scale includes the participant?s personal information. However, the second part of the scale consists of personal mastery, shared vision, team learning, mental models, and sixty expressions associated with the dimensions of structure of the organization.As a result of the study, faculty members delivered their positive views in two dimensions when discussing scale dimensions devoted to fundamental components which are to be included in a learning organization at university, have a positive understanding in means of personal mastery. Faculty members, who believe that structure of the organization also provides necessary circumstances for a learning organization. Faculty members can not expressed their positive views on shared vision, team learning and mental models which are fundamental components of a learning organization in three scales. In this sense, to become learning university requires to be competent in all these components. Based on this, it is considered necessary to detect the defect in learning organization?s components and to put the required actions into practice. These priority things are being a shared vision with all faculty members participation, providing necessary facilities for developing collaboration between faculty members and advancing creative thought that sustaining productivity and continuous learning.
