Abstract (EN)

The Concept Of Hygeine and Its Evolution In Anatolian Civilizations Our study, entitled 'The concept of hygeine and its evolution in ancient Anatolian civilizations' is concerned with health and healthy lifestyle in general, and more specifically with the concept of hygeine which has close and diverse relation with medicine in Hittitte, Ion Colonies-Hellenistic period and Roman age. The scope of the concept and application of hygeine was elaborated on depending on the inscriptions of the ancient times and the archeological data. The concept of hygeine and its corresponding application in Anatolian civilizations of Hittitte, Greek civilization (Ion Colonies)-Hellenistic period and Roman and the influence of the changes, improvements and applications taking place in the Anatolian geography on the Euroan continent were evaluated by investigating health, urban armatours, thecnical information, and law. Accordingly, common applications were mentioned. The initial stage of the evolution of the concept and applications of hygiene in Anatolia in the Hittite Empire, Ion Colonies- Hellenistic period and Roman times were characterized by The first stage by individual hygiene practices performed based on beliefs, the second stage by the individual, environmental and medical hygiene practices based on rational thinking, and the third stage by the foundation of the common architectural buildings such as public baths, cisterns, aqueducts, drainage well, dip hole, sewer system as well as the individual, environmental, and medical hygiene under the supervision of the central authority. The changes and the evolutions of these applications which were performed in ancient times reveals the social and intellectual evolution of people.
