Abstract (EN)

The general objective of this research is to determine the effect of analogy-enhanced teaching on mathematical success and creative thinking ability of the students in middle school mathematics class. In addition, we searched for whether or not analogies have positive effects on creative thinking ability that students need to possess. The space of this research is comprised of the students who are in 9th class of Mehmet Akif Ersoy multiple program high school in Eceabat, Canakkale. The study sample is composed of 20 students as control group chosen by random sampling among the study universe. In the experiment group, the analogy based methods; and in the control group, activity based methods were applied. To the both groups, before and after application of this method, Achievement Test of Sets ve Torrance?s Test of the Creative Thinking were applied. The evaluation of results were done according to the frequency and arithmetic means of test scores; for determination of significant differences between pretest and posttest scores of variables, the t test was applied and for the evaluation of the effects of this technique on creative thinking, two factor variance analysis was applied. (F)It was observed after this research that, analogy based creative thinking has middle or positive effects on creative thinking. Besides, analogy based technique has more positive effects on mathematical success than activity based technique has.
