Abstract (EN)

This study aims to analyze the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices of deposit banks in Turkey, with a particular focus on comparing the approaches of private and public sector banks. As global sustainability concerns increase, the banking sector plays a significant role in promoting responsible business practices and contributing to sustainable development. This research uses content analysis to examine the ESG statements and reports of various Turkish deposit banks, identifying key trends and differences in the implementation of ESG criteria between private and public sector banks. The findings show that both private and public banks are increasingly aligning their operations with ESG principles; however, there are significant differences in the maturity of their ESG frameworks. This study contributes to the corporate sustainability literature in the banking sector and provides valuable insights for policymakers, bank executives, and stakeholders seeking to enhance ESG practices in the Turkish banking industry.
