Analysis of graduate theses completed in the field of science teacher education between the years 2010 and 2017 in turkey

The objective of this study is to inform about the content of current theses studied in the field of science teaching and to shed light on future studies. To this end, 334 postgraduate theses in the field of science teaching which were carried out between the years 2010-2017 and accessible at the National Thesis Center of Higher Education Council (HEC) have been reached. Those theses have been analyzed in terms of the year they were done, university, type of the thesis, institute of the study, department of the study, gender of the person who did the thesis, title of the advisor, sample size, sample selection method, study method, design of the research, data collection tools, reliability studies and applied tests, validity studies and applied tests, data analysis techniques and applied tests, suggestions, appendixes, number of local and foreign sources, topic of the thesis, study group, purpose of the thesis and language of the thesis. The research was designed in a screening model and data were collected through document analysis. Results obtained from the analyses of graduate thesis indicated that; • The university which carried out the studies most is Gazi University. • The year which most studies were carried out is 2010. • The institute which carried out studies most is institute of educational sciences. • Primary school students were mostly chosen as the target group. • The experimental design was mostly preferred among quantitative research methods. • Thesis were mostly written in the field of biology, and the environment was the most studied topic in this field. • There was a suggestions section within almost in all theses (%98,8), • The most preferred data analysis technique was t-test.
