Analyzing basic health indicators of Turkish health system according to nuts 1 classification in 2015

From past to present, health is one of the most important criteria determining the development of a society. Furthermore, the efficient and effective use of human and material resources in the health field and the equitable exploitation of health services by people is an important issue. Turkey in case of the point has unbalanced dispersion among its region in terms of the healthcare resources. In addition, among the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) members, Turkey is an insufficient level with regard to health service presentation and healthcare resources. To produce evidence on these assumptions, this study examines the differences and similarities among Turkey's 12 regions, which are created according to the Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics System (NUTS). The study also aims to determine Turkey's health care position among the OECD countries in terms of the health indicators. In accordance with these purposes, 10 variables related to the basic health indicators for 2015 were determined. The reason for the selecting of the 2015 year data is that when this study was done, the most current data both domestic and international fields belonged to the year of the 2015. After health indicators were selected, 14 hypotheses related to the data were generated. Then these hypotheses were analyzed with parametric and nonparametric statistical methods. Besides, the main components of health, which are human resources in health, health financing, and health IS, have been examined for both the international arena and Turkey's NUTS 1 level arenas. Furthermore, comparisons were made in terms of the socio-economic situation of Turkey's NUTS 1 level regions. The study findings showed that there are inequalities in health service presentation among the regions of Turkey. Furthermore, Turkey among OECD countries remains inadequate in a serious sense in terms of the resources, which are used in health. In an overall manner, the study revealed that there is a vital need for using more effective and innovative information systems (IS), particularly health care IS in Turkey. This study's results will be important for managers, decision makers, and academics who want to contribute to the improvement of the healthcare service presentation.
