The effects of symbolic game play education(role play)61-72 month old kids development who go to kondergarten and whose parents income is below middle class standards

ABSTRACTThis research has been conducted to analyze "the effects of symbolic gameplay education (role play) on 61-72 month old kids development who go tokindergarten and whose parents income is below middle class standards."Two schools were chosen for the research. A total of 24 kids participated in theresearch consisting 12 subjects and 12 in the control group.Kids were seperated into two groups. The research subjects' education is givenvia the symbolic game play whereas the control groups education has continued withthe regular curriculum. This research continued for 8 weeks. GECDA were used bothfor preliminary test and for final test. Independent Samples t-test and correlatedsamples t-test were used.The research showed that when lower income class kids were given the gameplay education, there has been a significant difference in the psychomotordevelopment between the pre-education and post-education (p>0,05).There has been a slight difference between the pre-test and post-tests in thecognitive development field. (p<0,05)There has been a difference in the lingual develeopment of the kids who tookthe game play education (p<0,05).There has been a difference in the social-emotional development of the kidswho took the role play education but the difference can be neglected. (p>0,05)When given the role play education within the regular curriculum of thekindergarten, the lower income group kids has shown significant developments inthose areas.Key words:Symbolic game,psychmotor development,cognitive development,lıngualdevelopment,social-emotional development
